Our Services

Behavior Consultation

Emerald Valley Care is contracted by Oregon Department of Disability Services and Aging and People with Disabilities to provide behavior consultation services and training. Our services utilize Positive Behavior Support, which is a set of research-based strategies that increase quality of life and decrease challenging behavior by teaching new skills and/or making changes in a person’s environment. These practices are based on philosophies of person-centered care, self-empowerment, and autonomous decision-making.

We specialize in traumatic brain injuries. Our Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) creates individualized plans which recognize the unique needs of those recovering from or impacted by brain injury.

  • When necessary, a Temporary Emergency Support Plan (TESP) is created to support an individual who is in crisis. A Temporary Emergency Support Plan is formulated before a Functional Behavior Assessment or Positive Behavior Support Plan can be developed.
  • A Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) is a tool which defines and describes behavior of concern and offers functional alternatives. The FBA identifies the function (why) a person engages in behaviors of concern.
  • The Positive Behavior Support Plan (PBSP) is a fluid document that identifies proactive, reactive, crisis, and recovery strategies that are person-centered to support that individual. The PBSP also addresses other key concepts to help support that individual, including, communication style & strategies, relationships, environment, preferred activities & routines, in addition to other relevant information.
  • Maintenance and on-going services are provided by offering modifications of a plan, resources and materials, as well as trainings for clients and care providers.

OIS helps to understand, prevent, and respond to challenging behavior.
